A resident of Stamford, Connecticut and an Art teacher, Sutherland is best known for his delicate and vivid watercolors of landscapes and flowers. His work evokes the essence of New England's light and forms. Each composition is a careful study executed by a contemplative man. His most recent field trips led him to France where he painted Monet's gardens at Giverny. |

Fifteen years ago, he left the corporate field and devoted his life solely to painting. Sutherland's work has been exhibited in more than 150
shows and he has won many awards. He is a founding member of the Stamford Art
Association, an associate member of the American Watercolor Society and Greenwich
Art Society among others. |
